Subject: Kelly Aerospace Power Systems is initiating a recall of the following Starters due to potential failure of the drive gear assembly. Customers owning starters affected by this Service Bulletin may also experience actuation difficulties with the starter's bendix drive assembly. This could include failure of the bendix to properly retract after engine start or failure of the bendix to properly extend at the beginning of the starting cycle. Either condition may result in damage to the starter or the engine fly wheel. The bendix assembly cannot be field repaired. The starter bendix should be replaced with a factory reconditioned or factory new unit.
MODELS AFFECTED: MHB-6014, -6014R, -6016, -6016R, -6018, -6018R; MMU-6001; MZ-6204, -6220, -6220R, -6222, -6222R, -6224, -6226 Starters. Only those assemblies itemized in this Bulletin are subject to this recall. View Bulletin

Kelly Aerospace has designed a new two piece brush holder which is superior in construction and designed to ease both installation and removal during routine maintenance.
