STC Received For The Thermacool AC System
Kelly Aerospace Thermal Systems officially announced that it has received supplemental type certification (STC) for it's Thermacool AC system on the Cessna 172 R/S, 182 P/Q/R.
Thermacool:
Thermacool is the first all electric, hermetically sealed AC system designed specifically for the aviation industry. Using state of the art brushless DC compressor and fan motors, Thermacool runs on a maximum of around 45 Amps enabling the pilot to use the AC prior to engine start with auxiliary power, ground operations, and take off. Thermacool has a digital climate controller for set and forget temperature comfort. Mounted in the standard avionics stack, the controller adjusts fan and compressor speeds for temperature control and minimal power usage.
